The internal camera records events behind you with a maximum resolution of 1080p / 30 frames per second. You can drive with peace of mind, knowing that you will get a clear video image if something unusual happens. You can trust that a small camera will protect your back. It detects events and automatically records footage during, before and after them.

The updated version of Garmin Varia has its own support for the Varia application, with which you do not need a separate on-board computer. The RCT716 is also a model approved for German road traffic without blinker functions. Flashing light is sure to attract attention, but it is illegal in many countries and it can cause migraine or even an epileptic attack. The direction and speed of a flashing light is also more difficult to detect than a steady light. When used with a compatible smartphone, the Varia™ RCT716 supports third-party apps such as Ride with GPS and displays rear radar alerts on top of maps.

The radar detects approaching vehicles from at least 140 meters away, turning on a bright light up to 220 degrees and beeping to make sure you're seen in time. It is primarily based on noticing differences in speed, and thus it can distinguish between objects that are speeding by and objects that are slowly passing by. A light and streamlined device, it is easy to attach vertically to the bicycle's seat tube, and the ten-hour battery life will keep you safely on the saddle for a long time.

The device requires a separate Garmin on-board computer, application or wireless connection to compatible devices.
